Internet Based Language Tools

ESL Lessons on the Web: is an interactive web site that WFTCC ESL instructors use to supplement classroom learning with on-line technology.

ESL Activities on the Web: is another interactive web site that WFTCC ESL instructors also use to supplement classroom learning with on-line technology.

TextTwist: is a great game for our students to help them build their vocabulary skills. Try to find as many words as possible in group of jumbled letters.

LiteracyNet: provides storylines that students can use to develop and hone their reading skills. After students read a story, they engage in a series of exercises that consist of vocabulary, word selection, multiple choice, sequencing, and conclusions.

WordReference: is a great tool for our Spanish and French speaking students interested in improving their English skills. This web site helps students translate almost any word in their native tongue to English and vice-versa.

Merriam-Webster: is not only an on-line dictionary that is accompanied by a thesaurus, it also provides a speaker icon that a student can click on to hear how the word is correctly pronounced.
